The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has published an updated version of its Real Estate VAT Guide, dated 19 April 2021. The guide covers VAT treatment of supplies of real estate, as well as various common transactions which occur within the real estate sector. The main update in the latest version concerns the conditions for the special VAT refund for UAE citizens that build or commission the construction of their own residence, including that refund claims must be lodged within 12 months from the completion of the residence.
