On 27 August 2018, U.S. President Trump announced that a preliminary agreement has been reached for a new trade deal with Mexico. The agreement follows months of talks to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which includes the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Agreement has only been reached with Mexico, however, with no agreement yet reached with Canada. Negotiations with Canada will continue, with the possibility that Canada may join the agreement with the U.S. and Mexico or come to a separate bilateral agreement with the U.S. only.
