The first-time income and capital tax treaty and protocol, signed by Spain and United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 5 March 2006, will enter into force on 2 April 2007. The treaty was concluded in the Spanish, Arabic and English languages, each text having equal authenticity. In the case of divergence, however, the English text prevails. The treaty generally follows the OECD Model Convention. The maximum rates of withholding tax are: -   15% on dividends in general and 5% if the beneficial owner is a company which controls directly or indirectly, at least 10% of the capital of the company...
