According to the Mauritius Ministry of Finance, the reaty with the United Arab Emirates, signed on 18 September 2006, entered into force on 31 July 2007 and will apply as follows: -   in Mauritius, on income for any income year beginning on or after 1 July 2008; and -   in the United Arab Emirates, on income for any income year beginning on or after 1 January 2008. -     The treaty will apply for a minimum period of 5 years.
