Details of the income tax treaty and protocol between Brazil and Peru, signed on 17 February 2006, have become available. The treaty was concluded in the Spanish and Portuguese languages, each text having equal authenticity. The treaty generally follows the OECD Model Convention. The maximum rates of withholding tax are: -   15% on dividends in general and 10% on dividends if the beneficial owner is a company which controls directly or indirectly at least 20% of the voting shares of the company paying the dividends.
