According to a release from the Pakistan government, officials from Pakistan and the Philippines met 27 to 28 February 2018 for the inaugural session of the Pakistan–Philippines Joint Economic Commission. During the meeting, both sides agreed to review proposals for the revision of the 1980 tax treaty between the two countries. Any resulting revisions would be the first to the treaty, and may involve either an amending protocol to the current treaty or the signing of a new treaty to replace the current treaty.
