On 21 June 2024, the Dutch Council of Ministers authorized the signing of an income tax treaty between Curacao and Suriname. The treaty will be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be signed and ratified before entering into force. Note, as a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Curacao is able to negotiate bilateral tax subject to certain conditions, but only the Dutch parliament may ratify such treaties.
