On 15 February 2022, the Israeli government issued a joint statement on the first-ever official state visit by an Israeli prime minister to the Kingdom of Bahrain. During the visit, leaders of the two countries agreed to expedite joint work for the negotiation of an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
