According to a release from Turkey's Ministry of Trade, officials from Syria and Turkey recently met in Damascus to discuss various bilateral issues, with both sides declaring their readiness to begin negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 2004 tax treaty between the two countries.
