On 21 October 2020, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad reportedly introduced income tax cuts for lower-income individuals through a legislative decree. This includes an increase in the tax-exempt threshold for individuals from monthly income of SYP 15,000 to SYP 50,000, as well as a reduction in the lower bracket tax rate for individuals from 5% to 4%.
