Sweden's Ministry of Finance is currently consulting on a proposal to abolish the current top individual income tax bracket from 1 January 2020. If abolished, Sweden would have a flat rate of 20% at the national level that would apply for income over SEK 490,700 for tax year 2019. The proposal does not include changes to the municipal rates, which are levied up to approximately 32%. Comments on the proposal may be sent up to 9 August 2019.
