Sweden's Finance Minister Magdalena Andersson announced on 31 August 2019 that the government is planning to introduce a new bank tax from 2022. The tax is expected to generate tax revenue of SEK 5 million in the first year, which will be primarily used to fund increased defense spending. The bank tax is in the initial stages of development and further details will be published when available.
