Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced a multi-point plan on 13 January 2025 to combat Spain's housing crisis. One of the main measures of the plan is the introduction of a 100% tax on property purchases by non-EU residents. The 100% tax, along with other regulatory measures, aims to improve housing affordability by reducing real estate speculation driven partly by non-resident investors.
