On 10 March 2020, the Spanish Cabinet reapproved the pending income tax treaties with Cape Verde and Romania. The Cabinet had approved the treaties in 2018, but a second approval became necessary following the dissolution of the parliament in 2019. The treaty with Cape Verde, signed 5 June 2017, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force three months after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will generally apply from the date of its entry into force.
