Spain has published Royal Decree-Law 10/2024 of 23 December 2024 in the Official Gazette, which imposes a new temporary energy levy on major energy companies, effective in 2025. The levy is 1.2% of 2024 net turnover from Spanish operations, with exemptions for smaller companies if their net turnover in 2019 was under EUR 1 billion or if their energy sector turnover in 2017-2019 did not exceed 50% of their total turnover.
