The Russian Ministry of Finance has issued a notice confirming the termination of the 1996 tax treaty with Denmark. As previously reported, Denmark published Law No. 712 in the Official Gazette in June 2023, which provides for the termination of the tax treaty, as well as the addition of Russia to Denmark's list of jurisdictions subject to defensive measures for non-cooperative jurisdictions. Russia was subsequently notified of the termination by Note No. 27/23 of 19 June 2023 and, as per the terms of the treaty, the treaty generally ceases to have effect from 1 January 2024.
