On 4 July 2018, the Qatari Cabinet reportedly approved the signature of a new income tax treaty with India. The treaty must be signed and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1999 tax treaty between the two countries. As provided in a release from India earlier in the year, the new treaty includes updated provisions on exchange of information and limitation of benefits and other changes to bring the treaty in line with the BEPS minimum standards on preventing treaty abuse. Additional details of the treaty will be published once available.
