A proposal for a Council Implementing Decision has been published that would authorize Italy to increase its VAT exemption (registration) threshold in derogation from Article 285 of the VAT Directive (2006/112/EC). Already authorized to exempt from VAT taxable persons whose annual turnover is no higher than EUR 65,000 until 31 December 2024, the proposed decision would authorize Italy to apply an increased threshold to EUR 85,000 from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024.
