On 26 November 2019, Poland's Council of Ministers approved a draft bill that amends the Retail Sales Tax (RST) Act to extend the suspension of the tax to 30 June 2020. The RST was first approved in 2016 but was suspended due to a State aid investigation and decision by the European Commission that the tax violated State aid rules. However, this decision was ultimately annulled by the General Court of the European Union and a consolidated version of the Act was republished in July 2019 with an effective date of 1 January 2020 ({News-2019-08-08/A/3-previous coverage}).
