According to a release from the Philippines Presidential Communications Office, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is committed to addressing double taxation between Cambodia and the Philippines through an income tax treaty. President Marcos expressed the commitment during a meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on 4 March 2024. The release notes that the two sides first held discussions on an income tax treaty in 2018 and have made similar efforts in the succeeding years. Any resulting treaty will be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
