In the Budget Bill that was submitted to parliament on 10 October 2007, a phased reduction of the capital duty was announced. The capital duty on 1 January 2008 would be reduced from 1% to 0.5% and should be abolished by 2010 in connection with the Lisbon Strategy concerning tax and customs policy.
