The Internal Revenue Department of Myanmar has announced that with effect from 1 October 2020 (beginning of financial year 2020-21), companies that have received a taxpayer identification number are required to pay their taxes electronically, including for corporate income tax, commercial tax, and special excise tax. The announcement also includes that taxpayers are currently encouraged to pay taxes via electronic payment systems given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
