The EU Council Working Party on Company Law reportedly met on 25 October 2019 to discuss various matters, including the introduction of public Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting. First proposed by the European Commission in April 2016, no real progress on the implementation of public CbC reporting has been made to date. One of the sticking points is that the Commission's proposal for public CbC reporting is based on amendments to the EU Accounting Directive (2013/34/EU), which would only require a qualified majority of Member States to adopt the proposal.
