Mauritius and the UAE on 22 July 2024 signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The agreement is intended to expand trade and investment flows between both nations, with the expected removal of 99% of Mauritius tariffs on imports from the UAE, and 97% of UAE tariffs on imports from Mauritius. For the UAE, the Mauritius agreement is its first CEPA with an African nation. The UAE has, however, actively pursued the conclusion of CEPAs.
