Malta published the Budget Measures Implementation Act 2024 on 2 April 2024. The main income tax measure of the Act concerns the deduction of expenditure of a capital nature on intellectual property or intellectual property rights. From the year of assessment 2024, it is added that such expenditure may be deducted in the year in which the expenditure has been incurred or the year in which the intellectual property or intellectual property rights were first used or employed in producing the income (previous coverage).
