According to a release from Sri Lanka's Prime Minister's Office, officials from the Maldives and Sri Lanka met on 6 June 2024 to discuss bilateral relations and the strengthening of cooperation, including the signing of an income tax treaty. The treaty will be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be signed and ratified before entering into force.
