The Royal Malaysia Customs Department has issued a notice announcing the postponement of the implementation date for tourism tax on accommodation premises reserved through digital platform service providers (DPSP). The notice provides that the Minister of Finance has agreed to postpone the effective date for the implementation of the imposition of tourism tax on accommodation premises booked through DPSP from 1 July 2021 to 1 January 2022. Further, the effective date for DPSP registration has also been postponed from 1 April 2021 to 1 October 2021.
