On 31 October 2024, the Latvian Saeima (parliament) approved the Law on Amendments to the Accounting Law, which must now be signed by the president and published in the Official Gazette to enter into force. Among other things, the amendments provide for the introduction of mandatory electronic invoicing (e-invoicing) requirements for business registered in Latvia with effect from 1 January 2026. The e-invoicing requirements apply for B2B transactions in Latvia for goods and services. Detailed regulations for the implementation of the e-invoicing system are to be issued by 1 July 2025.
