Japan's Ministry of Finance has issued a release announcing that negotiations for an income tax treaty with Georgia began on 13 October 2020. The treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1986 tax treaty between Japan and the former Soviet Union as it applies in respect of relations between Georgia and Japan.
