On 15 April 2024, the Italian Council of Ministers reapproved the law for the ratification of the pending income tax treaty with Libya. The law for the treaty was originally approved in 2021 but needed to be reapproved because of the formation of a new government in 2022. The treaty, signed 10 June 2009, is the first of its kind between the two countries. It will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
