On 14 October 2020, Hungarian President János Áder signed the law for the ratification of the pending protocol to the 1992 income tax treaty with Pakistan. The protocol, signed 14 July 2020, provides for the replacement of Article 27 (Exchange of Information) in line with the OECD standards for information exchange. The protocol is the first to amend the treaty and will enter into force 30 days after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
