Hungary's Ministry of Finance has issued a release announcing that consultations have been initiated with large Hungarian companies on the implementation of the Pillar 2 global minimum tax (GMT) in accordance with Council Directive (EU) 2022/2523 of 14 December 2022 (previous coverage). According to the release, the government's goal is to shape the GMT regulation in such a way that the competitiveness of the Hungarian tax system is maintained despite the GMT, and that Hungarian companies continue to pay one of the lowest levels of taxes in Europe.
