Hungary Flips Position on Global Minimum Tax

On 17 June 2022, Hungary announced its opposition to the implementation of the Pillar 2 global minimum tax in the EU. Aside from Poland, all Member States had supported the proposed implementation of the global minimum tax during a meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in April 2022. Following recent developments with Poland it was expected (hoped) that the proposal would be approved during the ECOFIN meeting on 17 June.
