Following strong opposition from both industry groups and the general public, Hungary's Prime Minister announced On 31 October 2014, that the country's proposed internet usage tax is in need of further amendments and would be put on hold. The proposed tax, submitted in a draft bill on 21 October 2014, would apply at a rate of HUF 150 per gigabyte of data traffic used per internet subscriber. An amendment was introduced 27 October that would cap the tax at HUF 700 per month for private subscribers and HUF 5,000 per month for business subscribers.
