Guernsey has published the Document Duty (Guernsey) Law, 2017 (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020, which was approved by the Guernsey States of Deliberation (parliament) on 18 August 2020. The Ordinance amends the Document Duty (Guernsey) Law, 2017 so as to add two further exemptions to the liability to pay document duty on a conveyance of real property. The first exemption (clause 2) exempts from duty a conveyance of property within a trust where the vendor or purchaser is a company wholly owned by the trustees (as trustees) rather than the trustees themselves.
