On 17 February 2020, a draft bill was submitting in the Greek parliament that includes amendments to the country's social security contributions. One of the main amendments is a change in the contribution basis cap, which is currently equal to 10 times the minimum monthly wage (currently EUR 6,500 based on EUR 650 minimum wage). The bill provides that the basis cap would be fixed and EUR 6,500, with the link to the monthly minimum wage removed. Future adjustments, however, could be made based on changes in the general consumer price index and the wage change index.
