The Greek Ministry of Finance has announced the transposition of the Fifth EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive, Directive (EU) 2015/849. One of the key points of the directive is the enhancement of transparency through public access to ultimate beneficial owners (UBO) registers for companies, trusts, and other legal arrangements. Further, requirements are introduced that not only are entities required to declare information on UBOs for the register, the UBOs are explicitly obliged to provide required information to the legal entities they own for declaration.
