According to recent reports, German officials have expressed support to other Member State representatives for the introduction of public Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting in the EU. Germany has long been opposed to public CbC reporting and has effectively blocked progress on its introduction since the first proposal was made back in 2016. Recently, progress has been made, with Portugal, the current president of the Council, formally mandated to engage in negotiations with the European Parliament (EP) for the swift adoption of the proposed directive for public CbC reporting.
