According to recent reports, German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz is ready to move forward with the unilateral introduction of a financial transaction tax (FTT) in Germany if agreement is not reached at the level of the EU. The introduction of an FTT in the EU has been considered for several years, with 10 EU Member States now taking part in negotiations through an enhanced cooperation procedure.
