French Prime Minister Confirms Individual Income Tax Withholding from January 2019

Despite recent concerns that the technical systems, and related training, for France's new withholding system for salary income would not be ready, French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe has confirmed that the new system will be launched from 1 January 2019 as planned. The new pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) type system requires employers to withhold income tax on income paid to employees on a monthly basis. The system also applies for pension income.
