Ecuador's Constitutional Court has declared that the Decree Law on the Organic Law for the Improvement of Tax Collection through the Fight Against Money Laundering is unconstitutional, citing procedural flaws in its enactment. As previously reported, the Decree Law was published 10 December 2024 and provided for, among other things, the introduction of a new tax on the transfer of used vehicles that is payable by the buyer at progressive rates of up to 5%, including natural persons and legal entities.
