According to recent reports, the European Commission is planning to introduce a new EU-wide tax on plastics. While partly meant to address waste and environmental issues, one of the main reasons for such a tax is to help fill the budget gap that will result from the UK's exit from the EU. A legislative proposal for the tax is to be put forward in the coming weeks.
