The European Commission (EC) released a memorandum explaining Italy’s recent request for a derogation from Article 285 of the VAT Directive. Now that the request has been approved, all businesses with thresholds lower than EUR 85 000 are retroactively exempt from VAT obligations from 1 January 2023 until 31 December 2024.
