The Dutch Government has announced that the Ministry of Finance is launching six studies this year into areas for improvement in the country's tax system. In a letter to the House of Representatives, State Secretary for Finance Menno Snel presented the following areas for study to simplify the tax system for citizens, companies, and the tax authorities: Future-proofing the tax mix with a fair distribution of the tax burden; Taxing income from digital platforms; Taxing income of directors and major shareholders; The future of corporation tax; Environmental taxes; and Simplification by the tax authorities.
