The Dutch government has decided to reconsider its recently issued Tax Plan ({News-2018-09-19/P/4-previous coverage}), including the planned abolition of the dividend withholding tax from 2020. The decision follows a 5 October 2018 announcement from Unilever that it will not be going forward with its plan to move to a single headquarters in the Netherlands (currently has headquarters in both the Netherlands and the UK). Unilever is reportedly one of the main companies, along with Shell, that have lobbied for the abolition of the dividend withholding tax. Details of any changes in the Tax Plan will be published once available.
