The Danish Government announced on 24 June 2024 that it has agreed with the parties in the green tripartite party on a long-term plan for the restructuring and conversion of Denmark's land and of food and agricultural production. This includes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector, including a new tax on emissions from livestock. The tax is planned to be introduced in 2030 at a rate of DKK 300 per tonne of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), increasing to DKK 750 per tonne in 2035.
