Cyprus has appointed the Registrar of Companies as the competent authority for the collection of beneficial owner information and the maintenance of a centralized beneficial ownership registry in the context of the implementation of the Fourth EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive. The collection of information was to initially begin on 18 January 2021, with companies and other legal entities allowed a period of 6 months from that date to submit their beneficial ownership information. However, the Registrar of Companies has announced that the collection of information has been postponed to 22 February 2021.
