Brazil's Chamber of Deputies is considering a draft bill that would introduce a so-called digital detox contribution (CIDE-Detox Digital). The contribution would be levied at a rate of 1% on the gross revenue of companies operating digital platforms earning over BRL 100 million annually in Brazil, regardless of whether the service is paid or free, and including instances where monetization occurs through advertising or data collection from users. Platforms include social networks, streaming services, marketplaces, online gaming platforms, and other digital interactive content.
