On 20 July 2018, the Belgian Cabinet approved for ratification the pending competent authority agreement for the automatic exchange of financial account information with Hong Kong. The agreement, signed 16 March 2017, provides for the automatic exchange of information on accounts held in one country by tax residents of the other country based on the OECD Common Reporting Standard (CRS). The first exchanges are to take place in 2018.
