Bahrain's National Assembly has reportedly approved the law for an increase in the standard VAT rate from 5% to 10% from 1 January 2022. The law was earlier approved by the Council of Ministers in September 2021 in order to generate increased revenue. The law must now be published in the Official Gazette to enter into force. Details on the implementation of the increased rate will be published once available.
